Clinic Changes

Dr Richardson is restructuring her clinic. She is transferring the care of many patients to other psychiatrists or back to their GP.

She is not accepting new referrals at this time.

Appointments & Access

Are your books open?
No, sorry. Dr Richardson’s books are closed. We do not operate a waiting list.

I have a booking - How do I move my appointment to a different day?
Please use the booking link (this takes you to Halaxy) to find a more suitable time. You can also manage your appointments via your Halaxy profile. If you do not yet have an active Halaxy profile on the portal, please email us at hello@athelaspsychiatry.com

Can I change my appointment type to in-person or telehealth?
Yes. Please send a text to 0468 006 984. Note that we cannot check messages during other patients’ appointments. If this is during the clinical day, a text to this number will be seen.

What if I’m running late?
Please do your best to arrive on time.

Paperwork, Letters & Certificates

Can I get a medical certificate without an appointment?
No. Legally, a certificate requires a doctor’s consultation. If it’s urgent, please see your GP or use an online telehealth service.

Can I request a letter, report, or form between appointments?
All paperwork should either be completed during your review, or will incur a fee that is equivalent to the appointment fee for the same time taken.

Dr Richardson does not write medicolegal reports including family court reports as her focus is on clinical care.

Concerns Between Appointments

I’m worried about something that’s happened – what do I do?

Please follow these steps:

Book an earlier appointment via the above booking link.
Email us with a brief outline of your concern.
If urgent, please see your GP.
If it is an emergency, call 000 or contact a crisis service (MH-Call: 1300 642 255, or Acute Response Team for under 18s: 3068 2555).

Please note: Email alone is not sufficient for clinical advice.

I need to update Dr Richardson between sessions—what’s the best way?
For brief updates, email hello@athelaspsychiatry.com.
For clinical guidance or decision-making, please book an earlier appointment.

Cancellations, Fees & Policies

What’s your cancellation policy?

Cancel at least 2 full business days in advance.
Late cancellations or no-shows are charged the full fee.
Deposits are non-refundable if cancelled within 48 hours.

What if I’m unwell before an appointment?

If contagious, please don’t attend in person. We will offer Telehealth as an alternative.

Therapy appointments are for therapy patients.

Where Do We Work?

In-person appointments are available in-person on weekdays , operating out of a dedicated room within an allied health clinic in Ashgrove. In-person appointments are particularly important for new patients, therapy patients and those who cannot tolerate telehealth (video) calls. Fees for telehealth and in-person are the same.

Dr Richardson is unable to provide urgent crisis care or admit patients directly. She is able to refer to another psychiatrist to provide inpatient care during an admission.
